first Monday adoration at Holy Trinity

for those who normally attend first Monday adoration at Holy Trinity, adoration will NOT be held tomorrow, November 2nd. Holy Trinity is having an All Souls Mass at 7pm in the church.

As of this message, not sure if adoration will be held on Monday, December 7, the vigil of the Immaculate Conception. Even though Holy Trinity doesn't have a mass scheduled in the evening, adoration may not be held due to the priest's coverage for vigil masses within the cluster

Forum: General Discussion

Church history class at Crucifixion

It is on its fourth week and I'm a bit curious why not many young adults attend.

Do you not know about it?
Maybe this notice will change that.

Do you think Church history is not important enough?
Maybe considering the importance of contemplating martyrs, Doctors of the Church, and Church teachings will change that.

Did you think that the Tuesday morning class is at a bad time for you?
Wednesday evening classes are also available.

Do you only want to attend events with that involve socializing?
There is some group sharing.

Do you need to know how to enroll?
It should just cost $40 for the book and you should be able to find out how to sign up by calling the church and asking how to sign up.

Are you frightened about how it will go?
I am signed up and have made it to every session, and I am still here to tell about it.

Is there some other reason?

Even if you don't want to attend, giving input might help others discover how better to assist our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Everyone answer!

Forum: General Discussion

I checked and there are many Catholic churches listed as having a Mass later today. I am having a hard time deciding to which to go. Here's a link to one of them:
http://www.archbalt.org/parishes/mass-time-search.cfm?day=5&mass=2870

Totally awesome!

I think there's a 7 P.M. in Spanish at Trinity today. I know the way there already so maybe going there should be the way today. Not to mention that I might learn Spanish today by going.

Ohhh, I see now that St. Katharine Drexel (Frederick) is very far away. Guess it'll be Trinity! See everyone there! We can smile and pretend that we know Spanish. La pas or something like that. That is of course if the priest doesn't go straight to "Lamb of God..."

Forum: General Discussion

Keeping the youth faithful

So many youth fall from the Faith. My question is: What can the Catholic churches do to change that?

One way that should help is by seeking competence, concern, and hospitability in the youth ministers. How better to keep the youth in the Faith than by having strong, dedicated, inspiring leaders? Maybe have annual parish elections to such positions with pastor nominees in light of committee recommendations.

What else can we do? Other comments or opinions?

Maybe by having one or more blogs? Or should we let facebook handle that alone?
Forum: General Discussion

pagans wanted!

Thought that title would invite some curiosity

Alternate title is: you ever wanted to be a missionary?

So, i want to make faithful Catholics/Christians "out there" aware of an opportunity for evangelization.

I work full-time for ChristLife - a Catholic apostolate - devoted entirely to evangelization - inviting people of whatever background into a real, living, personal and yet communal, relationship with the real, living, amazing God we love. (ps, that's not our official mission statement- but good enough
--
So, back to "pagans wanted!" We are inviting up to 70 or so young adults from all backgrounds together at St. Athony's Shrine on Thursdays to share a free dinner, listen to a teaching by CL Director Dave Nodar & OLPH pastor Fr. Erik Arnold, and share in small group discussion.

How do we invite "spiritual seekers?" (which doesn't just include secular people who would never frequent this wonderful Web site. But, as you know, includes many of our peers who show up on Sundays - or even you - who need to rediscover the basic good news of God's love)

1. We invite them personally - invite cards at twitter
2. We invite them via our Facebook event
3. We share with them 3 minute Vimeo or YouTube video

So here's the wonderful blurb that I'm hoping Richard in all his free time will be able to post to BC's main page:

Discovering Christ, Thursdays nights, June 11 July 23 - free dinners!
ChristLife is sponsoring Discovering Christ, a seven week series open to up to 70 young adults (ages 18-35) that explores the meaning of life and the relevance of Jesus in todays world. This is an opportunity to invite friends from all spiritual or non-spiritual backgrounds to reflect on the meaning of life in the context of a free dinner, enlightening seeker-friendly talk, & small group discussion. Includes a life-changing retreat on July 11.
I am amazed.

I wonder... If anyone can shed any light on this...

Fallen Catholics (agree with fewer than all 7 Church teachings in the survey) on catholicmatch are much more inclined to browse me back. I almost always limit myself to the faithful and yet the few non-faithful seem much more heavily inclined to respond.

Is there something about women who say that they agree with all Church teachings that holds them back more than those who don't? The reason that I am amazed is that I am unaware that faithful men are like this.

Maybe someone can shed some light on this. Are the unfaithful women more interested in seeing what's available because of sex addictions or desire for worldly thrills? Are the faithful women less interested because of obsession with the Church and hardly time for anything else?

Anyone care to shed any light? I doubt it, but it's worth a shot. If no one has more of a clue than I, then maybe it goes to show that it's a great question!

Forum: General Discussion
